Weekend Reflection

CIMG3838-001

One of my favourite reflection views in town :)

“By three methods we may learn wisdom:
First, by reflection, which is noblest;
Second, by imitation, which is easiest;
and third by experience, which is the bitterest.”

FMTSO: Sweet Tooth

CIMG3900-001

Last Sunday I had my first outdoors “fika” this year…
Tea and a cupcake at the café in our Museum Park.

”Fika” in Swedish means a coffee/tea break – besides the hot drink of your choice it also usually includes something to nibble on. Traditionally something sweet…

If no cake, perhaps a piece of chocolate?

FMTSO: The Bridges of Borås City

The Friday My Town Shoout Out theme  of the week is:  The Letter Your Town Begins With.

One B-word it’s hard to avoid in Borås is BRIDGES.
Besides the river running through town, there are also railways and motorways to contribute to the intricate maze of how to get from one place to another.

Going into town, I have to cross at least one bridge over the railway, one bridge over the river, and one underpass under the motorway.

The railway has to cross the river, too.

Where I live now, I can choose from a few different ways to walk into town so need not always go the same way.

There are four footbridges leading to/from the Town Park, which is situated on a peninsula.

Water World Wednesday: Ice Formations

Behind the Old Mill (see previous post) there is an island in the river, and if you walk across that island, you come to the “untamed” part of the river:

Ruby Tuesday: Moulin Rouge*

CIMG3689-001

{*Moulin Rouge [mu.lɛ̃ ʁuʒ], French for Red Mill, a cabaret in Paris, France.}

CIMG3640-001

This old mill is found in the village where my parents lived in their retirement years (and before them, back in my childhood, my grandparents). These photos are from Easter, when my brother and I went for a walk there. As you can see, there was quite a bit of ice in the river – probably still is. Even though the sun has kept on shining, the nights are still cold with temperatures well below zero.

FMSTO: Books

2013-04-06 books collage

Collage of some shots I took of the many various bookshelves in my parents’ old house… Which we still have not emptied (neither the bookshelves nor the house). Anyone out there who wants want to buy a complete Swedish library??
