Another butterfly for Shadow Shot Sunday … A Small Tortoiseshell. I’m guessing it landed on the road for a while to dry it’s wings, since the surrounding nature was probably rather wet from yesterday’s rain. Or maybe it just enjoyed looking at its own shadow! ;)
Wow, you even got the stripes on the antenna!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent creature!
ReplyDeleteIF I HAD A SHADOW
If I had a shadow as big as the sky,
I never would fear, and I’ll tell you why:
My shadow would save me from dragons and things
That fly in the night with terrible wings;
My shadow would keep me away from the beast
That sniffs in the west and sniffs in the east,
Hungry for children who play all alone,
Hoping to feast upon blood, upon bone;
My shadow would be my protector and knight
To keep fear at bay, to banish all fright.
I’m so glad my shadow is always nearby,
Though it’s not nearly as big as the sky!

Shadows here and here
how do you get so close? wonderful shot!
ReplyDeletewe had a damp butterfly last week, they do have to dry out before they fly. this one is so pretty. i do love butterflies and i also like the stones he is sitting on.
ReplyDeleteScrappy Grams: In this case I used the zoom since he was way down on the ground... In the park where I get most of my butterfly shots (like in the previous post), they have high flowers that the butterflies really really like, so there one has a better chance to sneak up on them for a 'proper' macro shot... ;)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterfly and nice photo.
ReplyDeleteRegards!
