We’re still having summery days here, but the rowan berries turning red is an umistakable sign that we’re entering into the Autumn season.

Ruby Tuesday: Rowan

CIMG4592-1

The name "rowan" is derived from the Old Norse name for the tree, raun. (Swedish: rΓΆnn) Linguists believe that the Norse name is ultimately derived from an older Germanic word raudnian meaning "getting red" and which referred to the red foliage and red berries in the autumn.
