Another FTMSO topic that gives me a reason to show some more photos from a visit to Nääs Castle last summer.

I’ve been to crafts exhibitions here in the past. There was nothing going on in that room just now – BUT…

… there was an outdoors exhibition to do with building techniques and doors and windows…

Ruby Tuesday: Doors and Windows

A “new old” building. Some years ago the old wooden building was to be repaired but when they started the job they found it to be in such a bad state that it came to be replaced by a new “look-alike” building. I’m glad they kept the old style though, we have very few old wooden buildings in the town centre because of big fires back in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

Friday My Town: Front Doors

 

If you don’t think your shop has an inviting enough front door,
you can try putting an extra one on display outside.
(Found this week on a street in town.)

 

Old cottage with keyhole-shaped doors in our Open Air Museum. This kind of cottage was common in these parts of Sweden from the Middle Ages until the mid 19th century.

If you go inside, you’ll find (among other things) an even older door:

 

Cinema/movie theater ‘Moulin Rouge’ built 1914, preserved as notable building.
