Friday My Town Shoot Out: “My Weakness”
“When driving through town where does the car pull you? Is there someplace you just can't resist stopping? A favorite shop, store, house....? Show us in pics.”
---
I don’t drive… I walk.
There are some views in town I always return to.
I love the river, and trying to catch reflections in the water.
Trees, sculptures, old factories, churches…
The sculpture “Bodhi” in the water next to the old cinema “RΓΆda Kvarn” (Moulin Rouge, the Red Mill)
A wonderfully rounded old factory building, following the curve of the river;
and the tower of the town’s oldest church.
Turning round, looking the other way.
The old trees in the Town Park.
Window lights at dusk.

The Skyscraper
Close to The Edge of the World (see my blog post 27.9),
a Tower is growing.
It’s rising above my own horizon now; as I feared it would. This photo was taken through my window the other day. If I sit at the kitchen table, it’s out of view and I can pretend it’s not there. But the illusion goes away as soon as I take one or two steps to the right… :)
Luckily, I think they have almost reached the top now.
For while at least, it will be the highest building in town.
Can’t help it, I’ve come to (jokingly) think of it as the Tower of Babel…
“Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves ” (Genesis 11:4)
This is what it’s supposed to look like when it’s finished.
(Obviously not my own photo!)

I’m afraid I still cannot see or enter any links at either Skywatch Friday or Friday My Town Shoot Out. (It was the same thing last week.) If anyone has a plausible explanation, please share it. (I suspect something to do with Google+. Which I’m not using.)

Weekend Reflections & FSO: Retro
Friday My Town Shoot Out: Retro
It seems very popular just now to be using “retro” and/or vintage items in shop window displays.

Weekend Reflections: Road Mirror
From across the road I zoomed in this mirror put up for extra safety at a sharp bend just at a bridge.

Weekend Reflections: Cherry Blossom Trees by the River
Photos taken with my cellphone camera (23 May 2013) while waiting for the bus in town. Summer has speeded along so quickly since then that the blossoming period is already over for these trees when I post this.

Weekend Reflection
One of my favourite reflection views in town :)
“By three methods we may learn wisdom:
First, by reflection, which is noblest;
Second, by imitation, which is easiest;
and third by experience, which is the bitterest.”

A: No, but I heard it's a beautiful tale (tail)!
Q: What is a zebra’s favorite movie?
A: The ones in black and white!

Friday My Town & Weekend Reflections – At Night
Going back to December and Christmas Market time…
This is a little blurry but I include it anyway:
The Christmas tree in the town square:
The lighted trees in the town park, reflected in the river:
The photo below involves reflections of the trees in the park in the big windows of the hotel across the river:

Photographer’s Reflection
Along the promenade on one side of the river, there is a wall of mirrors, which reflect the park across the water. And, in this case – the photographer…
The wall of mirrors is on the white building to the left. It was put up less than a year ago and it made a huge difference to what used to be just a plain, dull wall.

Wintry Reflections
We’ve had a cold start to the winter, and parts of the River are already frozen now. But under the bridge there was a patch of open water, which on this still, clear and cold day reflected the snow-covered trees on the river banks.
