Ruby Tuesday: The Morning after the Rain

CIMG6069

I spent the weekend at the House outside town. Saturday was the hottest day of the summer, 31°C in the shadow before thunder and rain brought release in the late afternoon.

CIMG6054

Sunday morning was almost “chilly” in comparison – when I went for an early walk down by the lake I wore a cardigan over a long-sleeved shirt!

There were signs of sudden departures from the beach the afternoon before (the rain started around 3:30 pm)

Sunday 9 December – Beach Buddy Bears

Barbados

 Barbados

A fellow blogger in Barbados, Virgina, recently blogged about her island celebrating 46 years of independence.

I suggest you read her post Happy Independence Barbados.

Here’s another “beachy” buddy bear… Guess what detail I fell for on this one?

Friday My Town – Vacation Spots

Actually I haven’t had a proper “vacation” in seven years or more – which means not since before my first digital camera… But this beach is a “spot” that I have visited at least once, and usually more than once, every summer, my whole life. Not always going into the lake, but at least to look at it! It’s near the house where my grandparents lived when I was little, and then we kept it in the family as summer house, and then my parents lived there in their old age. By next summer, my brother and I hope to have sold the house… But the beach is a public place and will still be there and possible to visit.

The water level in the lake is very high this winter.
In fact, there is hardly any beach left to walk on!

Ducklings on the beach

CIMG2077

Being out at my dad’s old place yesterday, I went for a walk down to the lake in the afternoon. Not too far away from the human families enjoying a day at the beach, I found a family of mallards doing the same thing…

CIMG2079

They got a little bit nervous as I approached, so made a unanimous decision to go for a swim.

CIMG2081

Looking left, looking right… Seems safe enough…

CIMG2082

Here we go!

Always do what Mummy does!

Not sure how she does that thing with her foot though!

CIMG2111

Getting tired of all this cleaning… I think I’ll go back up on the beach and have a nap. That human doesn’t seem so dangerous after all…

CIMG2115

Good idea, I’ll join you…

CIMG2127

Hey, the more the cosier!

We’re a family, we stick together!

And Mummy, of course!

The FMTSO theme for this Friday, July 1st is Simplicity.

Okay, I went out of town rather than into town for these shots.
But the lake is within the borders of the municipality ;)

It’s also Skywatch Friday.
