Outdoor Wednesday: Autumn Colours

I’ve been out walking in the rain a lot this week… The colours in nature just now actually do not seem to even need the sun! The photos below are all from today and “straight out of the camera” (some of them cropped a little, but no colour editing).

Shadow On the Wall

Magic shadow on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?

A nice sunny day for a walk yesterday afternoon; and walking into town with the sun behind me, I noticed these tree-shadows climbing up the house-walls. There is an interesting mix of buildings in the neighbourhood – some old, some modern. Here one of each! I can’t imagine myself living in the one with all the long windows (it’s just along the street) – I don’t think I’d be able to get over the feeling of living in a show-room!

Frozen Flood

Yesterday I very nearly did not bring my camera, just going out for a quick (hmm!) short walk to post a letter. “There can’t possibly be anything interesting along that way on a grey and snow-free winter day,” I thought to myself. But then I grabbed the camera anyway…

And it turned out nature along the familiar path surprised me, once again – as my familiar paths sometimes do. This time I found a frozen lake - where there usually is no lake!

In April, this is one of the close-to-home spots where I go looking for wood anemones! (…not water lilies…)

Silver And Gold

Shot through my window yesterday morning in frosty sunrise.
Thick layer of silvery frost on some of the trees, and still a few golden leaves left on others…

The first four pictures were shot last week with my old camera. The last four I took yesterday with my new camera (Casio Exilim EX-H30), bought this week. I haven’t really had much chance to get properly acquainted with it yet. For one thing most of this week has been wet and windy, and for another, as simple as the camera may look at first sight, the complete user’s guide comprises 178 pages… ;)

Cherry Blossom Trees

There are more of these cherry blossom trees to be seen at my other blog: Beyond the Lone Islands/Weekend Reflections. Aren’t they just gorgeous? I just can’t stop myself from taking more pictures every time I pass them, even though I know I already have lots of them!

The trees are still bare, but I noticed today that the lawn is actually getting green!

Still waiting for spring here… It got delayed by another snowfall of 10 cm or so between Thursday and Friday this week! Which probably will have brought the lawn in this park back to just about the same state it was in a month ago, when I took this photo. Unlike Thoreau… I did not go back to check in person…
