Ruby Tuesday

Straight out of my mobile phone camera (no editing) – glorious autumn colours in a parking lot in town.

And Good News – it seems InLinkz is suddenly “back on” for me (after having been invisible for me for two or three weeks, on any website using that linking service).

I never managed to figure out what was wrong, and have no idea how I got them back either.

Blue Monday, Ruby Tuesday…

About a week ago I found they’d installed some new toys in the playground in a little park I sometimes pass when out walking:

Have to say that what intrigued me most was how on earth (literally) this blue ‘carpet’ stays attached to the gravel ground beneath it.

I also had to try out this purple piano:

I think if I lived “next door” and there were lots of children playing in this park – that sound would soon drive me mad! (Question: Do children NEED outdoors playground toys that make electronic noises? Do parents??)

However, I don’t live that close– and moreover, I can’t recall ever having seen this playground being used in the past, whenever I have happened to pass through there. I wonder if that has changed with the new toys? (There were no children about this time either.)

Ruby Tuesday: The Morning after the Rain

I spent the weekend at the House outside town. Saturday was the hottest day of the summer, 31°C in the shadow before thunder and rain brought release in the late afternoon.

Sunday morning was almost “chilly” in comparison – when I went for an early walk down by the lake I wore a cardigan over a long-sleeved shirt!

There were signs of sudden departures from the beach the afternoon before (the rain started around 3:30 pm)

Ruby Tuesday: Moulin Rouge*

{*Moulin Rouge [mu.lɛ̃ ʁuʒ], French for Red Mill, a cabaret in Paris, France.}

This old mill is found in the village where my parents lived in their retirement years (and before them, back in my childhood, my grandparents). These photos are from Easter, when my brother and I went for a walk there. As you can see, there was quite a bit of ice in the river – probably still is. Even though the sun has kept on shining, the nights are still cold with temperatures well below zero.

Going back to my summer photos in search of some colour… Found this, which I don’t think I’ve posted before. It’s from a Wagon museum in the countryside not very far from the village where my parents lived. It’s not open on a regular basis, and I’ve never been inside. My brother and I just stopped for a look outside when we were out for a drive in that neighbourhood.

Ruby Tuesday – Black Swans

The Black Swan (Cygnus atratus) is a species of swan, which breeds mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia. We also have a pair of them in a bird sanctuary here in my town in Sweden, though! (They are not in a cage, they were outside someone else’s!)

Singapore is a very unique country to me, it has a diverse population of Chinese, Malays, Indians and Asians. In this multi-cultural country, the people mantain an environmentally-friendly lifestyle. Therefore, I applied patterns of flowers on the buddy bear body. I used orchid as the main flower on the body and the head since Singapore’s national flower is the orchid. For hands and legs of the buddy bear, I applied henna tattoo (Indian) and lotus flower (Chinese) as the intersection body part between the main body and legs/hands. I used vibrant colors for my design to represent that Singapore is a modern country, vivid colors of the cityscapes and there are a lot of beautiful natural sceneries. I mixed this modern and the natural feeling (colors and patterns) to my design.

Vietnam

It’s not the same bear as on the BB homepage. I think it may be the same artist – Thanh Dung Matzke – I’m not sure because I did not catch the whole sign at the bottom in my photo. But Thanh Dung said about the other bear she painted: “Who isn't capable of love, lost the will to live.” And that seems to fit this one as well.
