FMTSO: At Rest, At Play or In-Between

I did not have a clue what to do with this theme in the month of November. The added question “How do you spend your free time?” is absolutely no help at all since either I have no free time or nearly all my time is free time, depending on which way you want to look at it.

So what to do? Scrolling through my photo archives (that’s one way to spend Time), I found these old favourites from our town Zoo (taken on a couple of different occasions):

Now I’m curious to see how others treated this theme…

Friday My Town: Creepy Crawlies

Oh I know I have a few bugs here and there among all my photos as well – the problem is I have not tagged them or collected them in a special folder; and have no time to go looking now.

Butterflies I have plenty; but since I never detect them until they’ve left their most creepy crawly stage behind, I’m not sure they qualify!

Friday My Town: Black & White & Sepia

… at the Zoo …

Artful imitation of The Thinker

CIMG2714-1

Oh please, leave me some dignity, will you…
Someone might take me for a zebra!

CIMG2628-2

Some of us have got it natural!

Well… Almost, anyway… (wink, wink)

CIMG2910-1

Greyscale, sepia… Why not just keep to the natural look?
(What do you mean, what am I? Blame that photographer…
Fancy leaving my trunk out of the picture like that!)

CIMG2816

I take my pride in always wearing formal dress,
thank you very much! No special effects needed!

CIMG2728-1

Oh, do whatever you like, just let me sleep, will you…

CIMG2843-1

Personally I think I look much wilder in colour.
After all I’m a WOLF, you know - not just any old dog…

- Did someone say wolf? I’m out of here!!!

Watery Wednesday: Wet Romance

CIMG2783-1

Sea Lions at the Zoo :)

for Water Wednesday

In the summer, the sea lions give daily public shows. I came by their
lake just as the show was over; but the animals were evidently in
the mood to give the public a bit of a “back stage” entertainment.

Watery Wednesday: Flamingos

CIMG2612

Yes, still at the zoo ;) … The flamingos always seem to prefer the corner of their pond farthest away from the public, and in the sharp contrast between light and shadow on the day I was visiting, it was very hard to tell how my attempts to zoom them in would turn out until I got home and got the pictures up on the screen! I’m fascinated by how they can twist their necks like that… (below)

A Rooster for Ruby Tuesday

CIMG2819-1

CIMG2820-1

There are some farm animals within the zoo as well. This rooster was giving a powerful performance as I passed by.  His ‘cock-a-doodle-doo’ (in Swedish: ‘kuckeliku’!) might even have been enough to wake a lion! (see previous post)

Mosaic Monday: Sleepy Lions

2011-08-13 zoo

Sometimes in the morning it’s just hard to get out of bed!

Did you know that a lion spends about 20 hours a day just sleeping?

In one of the ladies’ loos at the zoo (perhaps in the gents’ as well
– that I wouldn’t know), they keep playing the song:

♫ In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight…♫

Haven’t been able to get it out of my head since my visit!!!
