Shadow Shot Sunday: Do You See What I See?

DSCN2360-1

DSCN2360-3

Can you see the white stag?

The Celts saw white stags as messengers from the Otherworld.
In Arthurian legend, the pursuit of the white stag
represents mankind’s spiritual quest.

… … …

In ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ by C.S. Lewis,
at the end of the book, it is a White Stag that guides the children
(then Kings and Queens of Narnia) back to their own world.

… … …

In the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling,
when Harry learns how to perform a Patronus charm to guard him
from the evil dementors, it takes the form of a White Stag.

  1. I did see it as a white deer, but it took you to make me understand the deeper meaning of it.

Beautiful how you play with the photos too.

  5. I must admit that although I did see an interesting shape in the center of your photo that my bad attitude toward snow at the moment allowed my brain to make the comment of - Snert (snow + dirt = snert). Sorry for being a party popper. I love your last photo. Beautiful what snort can turn into! Hee, hee!

  6. You blow me away with finding dirty snow, photographing it in such a unique way that leads to evoking two of my favorite authors' work!

  11. Yes I can see the White Stag with its antlers.
Thank you for the information I did not realise the important significance of a white stag, but being white would suggest that it was pure and would represent goodness. :)

  18. I saw the stag immediatly, Monica!!! But I didn't know the deeper meanings. Seems there was a ghost white stag or something in Bambi? I can't recall. Really interesting info, you have a magical way of looking at things.
