Watery Wednesday: Goldeneyes

DSCN2890-2

Most of the ducks in the river are mallards, but these two (if I’m not
mistaken) are Common Goldeneye (Swedish: Knipa). I keep seeing
only one pair of them among all the mallards – all year round -
so I’m assuming they are one and the same couple!

  1. Golden Eye they are. I like mallard but it's good to have a change.

  2. We have far too many mallards in our area, too. It is exciting to see a different duck for a change.

  8. I'm so glad you showed the wide photo first. The color reflected on the water is gorgeous! Golden Eyes, I've never seen them before. I love seeing birds of any kind that are unfamiliar to me. Thanks!

  10. Nice shots. I wish I could find some other kinds among all the mallards! It's almost like panning for gold...

  11. I think we only see those in winter here, so I get excited when I see them. That pair must think they're mallards if they stick around with them all the time.
