Today is the 4th Advent Sunday.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be
hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the
house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they
may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14-16  (Sermon on the Mount)

  1. Now that is a good and thought provoking quote! And quite true I think! What IS this deal, some kind of modern candlelight thingy???

  2. Yes. Most of our electric candlesticks have seven (small) lights. Our Advent candlesticks for real candles though have four candles, one for each Advent Sunday. This modern 'thingy' here looks to me like someone had a Gyro Gearloose kind of idea but not really the time to think it through properly. I doubt it will sell much...

  4. In your comment on my Advent photo, if you're talking about the rose candle, it's for the 3rd week of Advent. It's a sign that Advent is half over and signals hope. We have a wreath to symbolize God's eternal presence...has always been, is now, and always will be. Thanks for visiting.

  5. Those bulbs will soon be obsolete in the UK as the new energy saving bulbs come in. This won't look quite the same. Mind you I'm not sure that'll be a huge loss even though I quite like it - for someone else's house.

  6. GB, it's the same here. The old types of lightbulbs are about to be taken off the market here. But hey, with new energy saving bulbs this one will have an even more modern look... I agree it might possibly look good (fun) in someone else's house. If I took it into mine, it would make all the rest of my interior decoration look out of place, though!
